Co-working space

Penza

Philip Kassanis as director at Kassanis+Thomas
2014

Following an invitation from the local administration of the Russian town and region of Penza, we developed a co-working space concept for a disused factory as a hub housing digital age enterprises in both the creative and scientific/technology sectors. It is founded on the contemporary concepts of openness, sharing, collaboration and acting globally. It will include all the necessary support structure within the campus to attract established local and global companies to locate there and local entrepreneurs to form start-up businesses (e.g. medium stay residential accommodation, provision for related marketing and distribution activities etc.)

It aims to make available to all the companies present on the campus, via its infrastructure, the equivalent co-working space facilities that the big players do for their own staff within their own offices (eg Google, TelAviv; Facebook’s Menlo Park HQ; Pinterest’s San Fransisco HQ). It draws on such work as Derwent’s White Collar Factory at Old Street London; Gensler’s Hackable Building concept; and Fox Head Inc HQ in California.

Kassanis+Thomas is currently following up opportunities for similar co-working space concepts at locations in the UK.
