I was the only reason that Mountford Pigott (a practice without an international reputation) could undertake the work. This is because of my previous knowledge in the distribution and logistics sector, expertise in masterplanning, and aptitudes in team leadership.
The rest of the team were all consultants with international reputations and I was able to stand with authority as the design team leader. This was a strategic role and I punched above my weight because all other members were principals of their firms whereas I was just an associate.
