Philip Kassanis as associate director at Mountford Pigott
2008 and freelance 2010
600Ha of land in the mountainous non-coastal region of the Algarve acquired by a group of investors for a specialist high end, unique tourist product. Mountford Pigott were asked to lead the project because of my masterplanning expertise.
We recommended that the work be done under our strategic supervision by a local architect with direct knowledge of the tourist product. We directed them through the masterplanning steps toward the equivalent of outline planning permission. This involved appointment of consultants to deal with the specialist fields of landscape/ forestry, hydro-geology, archaeology and energy/ services. A partial initial masterplan was advanced toward the end of 2008 and negotiations with the authorities became protracted resulting in the scheme languishing through 2009.
When there was renewed interest in 2010, I was brought in to re-draw the entire masterplan.
