Project in the 1980’s while at Hutchison Locke and Monke (now HLM Archhitects).
This was a service being pioneered at that time by Dr James McKeith (consultant forensic physiatrist, Maudsley hospital) for the regional health authority whose built form was a series of secure mental health units throughout the region. The building type had no precedent at the time and I was the lead player in the team taking the project from outline design through to completion on site from a highly structured brief incorporating stringent security requirements.
