Gabriel Court, Stoke Gabriel

The 3 acre site is in the grounds of Hill House which was originally built by the Churchward family in 1477 and remained with the family until 1924. It then became the Hill House Hotel whose name was changed in 1939 to the Gabriel Court Hotel. The family and the house and subsequently the hotel always played an important part in the life of the village. The house and grounds became derelict but still a prominent feature in the heart of the village.

The scheme was to convert the hotel into 2 residential units as part of 13 home development. Carried out feasibility and translated this into a masterplan and brief. Was responsible for the concept for the hotel conversion through to planning application. Acted as lead consultant for the preparation of the planning application with Exeter based architects, Grainge Architects, responsible for the 10 new units and conversion of a stable cottage into a planning application. Conducted the pre-app liaison with the planning authority and organised the village. Was responsible for the, preparing all the material and writing up the report.
